company of women

I am blessed to be surrounded by mighty fine women.  That’s what I thought the other night as I broke bread with some fellow heart centered entrepreneurs.

We talked about our work and our paths and our children as we tucked into steaming bowls of spicy ramen and black lava salt-rimmed sake cocktails.

Later that night, I sat with my daughters (one biological, one unofficially adopted) and put swag bags together for my upcoming retreat over wine and Project Runway discussions (we are all fans of Kini, by the way).

The next day, my homegirls were there to support me when I had to deal with some very toxic shade being thrown my way. They had my back when I really needed it.  (Big props to baby sis for the ultra-wisdom and chuckles.)

I am grateful. So utterly thankful. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I’ve always been a girl’s girl.  I love the company of women and am always about the sisterhood.   (And yes, I am a total feminist in case you were curious.)

Don’t get me wrong – I absolutely adore boys (you’re all fab).

But there is something about a circle of supportive and intelligent women. It’s that solidarity that can only come from shared similar experiences (sorry dudes, but you can’t possibly get menopause or any of that stuff).

I’ve never understood women who hate other women or claim that they “can’t get along with them.”

What’s not to love about a sorority of awesome?

Maybe they haven’t been fortunate enough to know the gals I know.

I am blessed with an inner circle that is full of life and love and joy and deep caring.

No competition.

No insecurity.

No agendas.

No hidden motives.

No cloak and dagger.

Just women coming together and being present for each other.   Community and unity.  Bonding through thick and thin.

Every day I give thanks for all the wise women with whom I’ve leaned on, learned from, helped,  loved, shared, and been lucky enough to befriend.

I don’t know what I would without ‘em.

Thank you to my girls.

anytime is wine time

I always like a little wine time with my homegirls!

Other stuff:

Tarot fans!  You MUST check out this new offering from Andrew McGregor of The Hermit’s Lamp: A Tarot Of You.  This six month class will help you to create your very own personalized deck.  How cool is that?

Watch what happens when a woman wears a fat suit to meet her Tinder hook ups?  Check out the crappy attitudes from some of these Shallow Hals.

Love this: a woman photographs her cat callers.  (PS why are none of those guys ever attractive – ever notice that?)

While I’m all about women ‘n stuff, I don’t think baking vagina cookies for second graders is a smart idea.  WTF was this woman thinking?

The 25 Most Dangerous Cities in America.  And of course, my hood makes the list at number 25.

New York Used to be a Terrifying Place and these pics prove it.  I lived there in the 80’s and I can attest – it was pretty sleazy.  Can I just admit here now that I kind of miss that?  (Yeah, I’m weird.)

How to Run Your Business Like a Rock Star.  Because all rock stars have it together, right?

Ever deal with a copycat?  I have and I can tell you that it sucks, big-time.  Recently, someone ripped off Brene Brown’s work.  Assertiveness specialist Tamisha Ford wrote this brilliant piece about copycatting as an act of aggression.  I couldn’t agree more.

Where do I sign my kids up for the Hipster Olympics?

There’s something about Harry.  Can I just say that I think Prince Harry is a wee bit awesome for this.

If you’re a tarot reader, you’ll come across this from time to time: “she didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know.”  Queen of Wands Jenna Matlin tells us why this can happen.

When I was a kid, I wanted a chemistry set or an Easy Bake oven. I got neither (mom thought I’d blow something up).  Now I can combine the best of both worlds with this Chemist Spice Rack!

I’m sure you’ve heard about Ello.  Did you know there is a Facebook thing for the “super rich” too?  For $9000.00 you can hang with other moguls!

Some restaurants are pushing back against the demand for gluten free foods.

I was researching Biba and found this delightful blog, Sewing the 60′s.  I am obsessing over this mega-talented seamstress.  Oh, how I wish I could sew!

What I’m Grateful For:

Strong friendships

Clear communication

No games

Honesty

Laughter and generosity

Cat fights on the new bed spread (cute!)
