hit list - ring my bell

Every year, the Salvation Army bell ringers set up outside local grocery stores. And every time, I walk by.  On rare occasion, I’ll toss a coin or two into the bucket and then go on my merry way.

I really don’t think too much about it. You probably don’t either.

But one day, I heard furious clanging and raucous laughter so I took a second glance.  There she was, moving like she meant it with a smile that was so contagious, I had to go back and say hello.  She greeted me like I was an old buddy and made me laugh. So of course, I dug in and grabbed out a few coins.  How could I resist?

Melissa has a gorgeous spirit and the best smile, ever. She beams goodness out of every pore of her being.

Every time I see her, I want to give, give, give. (When another bell-ringer is in her place, I’m disappointed.)

She is the perfect example of how to show up with your whole heart and make everyone else feel good in your presence.

I think about how I gripe sometimes about stuff I “have to” do like paperwork and laundry.  Perhaps if I put more joy into those little things, I’d be putting a ripple of goodness out there too.

Imagine if every one of us approached our tasks with Melissa’s level of enthusiasm and joy.

What goodness would we spread?

Do you get upset over little crap?  There may be a scientific reason, yo. Yay science!

I’m no football fan but I totally understand why those guys get paid as much as they do. They take a serious beating out there.  This video on the long term impact of concussions from football really got to me.

Pope Francis is the dopest pope of all: telling a little kid that his dog will go to heaven?  YES.  This dude is tuned in to a different frequency than his predecessors.

This is dating advice for women over 50?  Since when did men become so fragile?

I’m incredibly honored to be listed as a 2014 favorite over at Danielle Cohen’s mighty fine site.  WOW.

Need support to get you big stuff done?  Run, don’t walk, over to Shenee Howard’s brand new offering: The Secret Society of Done, a cool new place for people who are getting shit done.  Check out this description: “It’s not a class. It’s not a mastermind. It’s a collective of people who don’t just talk about things but do them. Together. With all the support, accountability and strategy you could ever need.”  Get in before those doors close and make that next year da bomb-dot-com!

Begone callouses! Because I teach yoga, I’m barefoot a lot.  And squeamish about my gnarly feet. I just got this Tweezerman Sole Mates Foot File and Smoother and it’s been working like a charm to get those rough spots softened up.  This thing is genius!

After I use that file, I slather on Dr. Scholl’s For Her Ultra Overnight Foot Cream, 3.5-Ounce Tubes (Pack of 4) – voila! Feet like a baby!
