soul proprietor

Are you worried that your work isn’t good enough?

Do you wonder why some of your peers seem to get all the kudos when you work so frigging hard?

Do you need that pat on the back, the accolades, the repeat clients, or the shout outs on social media in order to validate your business?

In other words: are you seeking approval for your mystical biz (or for yourself)?

Stop that.

Right now.

If you are constantly looking for a confirmation of your worth, you are going to get caught up in a might big world of paranoia and hurt feelings.

When you love your work, it’s natural to want other people to love it too. So you market the heck out of it, you reach out and network your little heart out, and you give, give, give.

Sometimes that leads to abundance…other times, crickets.

On occasion, you may even encounter a hater that throws a whole lotta shade your way.

When people don’t dig the cut of your business jib, it can be painful.

You might take those rejections to heart.  You may even feel like throwing in the towel.

Let that energy go.

Remember: you are in business to serve, not to win a popularity contest.

There will always be customers that move on to other service providers.  There will always be peers who get more attention than you.  There will always be so-called big shots who won’t bother to even give you the time of day.

And there will always be those who love and appreciate you (put your love + focus there).

Can you love and appreciate your work yourself?

Can you approve of you instead of waiting for someone else to give you that blessing?

Start by giving yourself credit for committing to your work.

Commend yourself for showing up, even if there is not a line at your door.

Send yourself love for being you, even if some people don’t get it or think you’re “enough.”

Embrace the ones who give you the respect you deserve but be sure to give yourself that respect first.

Let go of the need for validation.

Keep showing up.

Do meaningful work.

Approve yourself.

“What do you mean I have to wait for someone’s approval?  I’m someone.  I approve.  So I give myself permission to move forward with my full support!” ~ Richelle E. Goodrich

Blessings!
