Which tarot cards indicate office politics?

five of swords office politics

Five of Swords – this nasty card can sometimes represent dishonesty, a victory through deceit, or a hostile takeover.  I’ve seen this one pop up again and again in toxic job environments.  If you see this one in a reading when you are asking about your job, you can be sure someone isn’t playing fair.

nine of wands office politics

Nine of Wands – the Nine of Wands is a classic “watch your back” card.  Although this card can also indicate paranoia, I usually see this as justified skepticism – fool me once, won’t be fooled again.  A warning to be careful with the people around you and to set high boundaries.

the tower office politics

The Tower – crap hits the fan, heads are going to roll.  A coup.  This card can indicate someone coming in with the intention of a mutiny.

the devil office politics

The Devil – this negative card can indicate ambition gone wrong, turning into envy.  It can also be an indicator of a “bad boss.”  I’ve also seen this card represent a sexual relationship at work that turned bad – or sexual harassment!

five of wands office politics

Five of Wands – although I usually see this card as “friendly competition”, if paired with a negative card, it can add indicate fighting dirty or bad competition.

seven of wands office politics

Seven of Wands – having to fight a bigger group of people.  Standing up for yourself against the odds. Having to fight “the man”.  I’ve also seen this card represent a “whistleblower” who must do the right thing and upset an apple cart, especially when paired with Justice.

the moon office politics

The Moon – The Moon is rarely a positive card, and in the work environment, it is a sign of hidden enemies.  Always be on guard if this card is showing up in any work related reading.

A couple of notes:

10 of Swords, Three of Swords or Nine of Swords – all three are classic backstabbing or betrayal cards.  Look out when these are in a reading.

Court cards – you’ll also want to pay attention to Court cards – particularly if they are reversed.  While groups of Courts can indicate meetings, they could also indicate cliques.  Three Queens often represent gossip (I know, it’s sexist but it’s an old skool interpretation and sadly, it has proven to be true for many readings I’ve done over the years).
