I love my digital world – and since I’ve made a vow to declutter my massive book collection, it’s been so handy to switch to a digital format. (Don’t get me wrong – I still love the smell and feel of a book but a gal only has so much room in her house before it starts looking like an episode of Hoarders.)
One of my favorite digital products is “The Ultimate Guide to Tarot Card Meanings” by Brigit (Biddy) Esselmont of http://www.biddytarot.com. This 300+ page is ebook a tarot lover’s dream – full of essential information, easy to read text, sound advice, detailed charts and comprehensive interpretations of each card – including reversals!
The author starts out with an introduction on how to use The Ultimate Guide and then launches right into numerology, reversals and card combinations. If you are new to tarot, this may feel a bit much but if you stay with it, you’ll see how this information prepares you for the upcoming chapters. The section on reversals is very important – I’ve always used reversals and found her explanation to be right on. Biddy tears away some of the common misconceptions of reversals as being “dramatic” and instead provides different ways to view them – this takes the fear out of learning reversals and makes it user friendly – especially for newbie readers.
The “card combinations” section was equally useful and spelled out in plan language. Seeing the cards interact with her examples helps any reader add layers to their tarot readings.
For each section of the cards, she starts out with a short but in depth introduction, a lovely chart (which is handy and great for when you need a quick glance) and then the meat of the book: the interpretations!
Each card is presented with a picture from the Rider Waite Deck and starts out with keywords followed by quotes (love that!), a description of the image, general meanings as well as different interpretations for every situation you can imagine (career, personality types, love, etc), suggest card combinations, and the reversed meaning. This is so complete and in depth – it goes beyond most tarot interpretation books.
The author also includes some bonus chapters – with top 10 love cards, career cards, and more. When I am saying that this book is complete, I am not kidding. Everything that you need to begin understanding the tarot is here.
The ebook is beautifully laid out – gorgeous and clean. And the writing is clear and easy to understand. Her interpretations are fantastic and I often found myself nodding in agreement – or learning a few new ways to look at the cards! (Yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks!) This is perhaps one of the richest resources I have ever come across and tarot readers from all levels will be thrilled to discover all the information presented.
I love that I can refer to this book right from the comfort of my computer when I am stuck on an interpretation. No more digging through my tarot mountain – it’s right here within reach at the click of a mouse! This is especially helpful when I am doing email readings and my brain goes blank!
You can purchase this book directly from her site for the incredibly low price of $29.00! And considering all the information packed into The Ultimate Guide to Tarot Card Meanings, that is a steal! Why buy tons of tarot books when you can get every thing you need in this book? It’s a great resource and one I’ll be turning to again and again.
(You can also purchase a companion workbook which is fantastic for newbie readers who want to deepen their understanding quickly.)

Hi Biddy
Thanks for stopping by! I have been enjoying the book for a while and consider it one of my most valuable resources. I think anyone – new reader or old – will be pleased with The Ultimate Guide To Tarot Card Meanings.

Theresa
Biddy,
I have been teaching Tarot for 10 years and reading for 30. The ultimate Guide to Tarot Card Meanings has the most clearly defined resource material.
Your understanding of all aspects, from symbology to numerology, has been refreshing, precise and concise. You have given us so many new, “triggers.”
Thank you for this outstanding work.
Thank-you so much for your kind and positive words, Pat. I am so glad the Guide has helped you, even with your many, many years of experience.
Thanks for stopping by, Pat. I agree – it is a major source of tarot wisdom. One of the best I have ever come across.
I consider this book to be a very valuable Tarot resource and refer it it often in the course of my reading practice and studies. I hope that one day Bridgit will choose to publish it as an actual paperback or hardcover book as it would probably gather a wide audience.
I think it would be an awesome paperback but I have to admit, that I prefer having the ebook right on my computer. It saves me endless screwing around looking for an ideal interp when my tarot brain is foggy – it is SO convenient!
Thank-you Richard. I really appreciate your support. I would love to publish it one day – know any publishers??
Brigit,
I am experienced in such matters having authored and published five books to date. I would be pleased to aid you in any way that I can to help you attain published status for your most excellent book. When you feel ready just drop me an email and I will reply to you personally with a few pointers to get you started on the right path.
An excellent book on how to decipher Tarot card meanings. The layout is neat, and focussed. Brigit in her own inimitable style has brought out the nuances of Tarot cards very well.It keeps the reader engrossed and gives you a total perspective of the Rider Waite Tarot deck.
Your library is incomplete without this book !
Thank-you Aasheesh! I really appreciate your wonderful comments.
I absolutely love this book. I, too, wanted it in print form so I emailed Brigit and she gave me permission to have it printed for my own use. I took the print job to FedEx and they did a beautiful job of printing and coil binding it. It wasn’t cheap, but well worth it for me. I like having it in an electronic format, but I use it more in the printed form.
