Random lessons from my last week (cause you never stop learning and every moment gives you an opportunity, yo):

  1. A support ticket to your web host gets faster service than calling them out on Twitter.
  2. Just because your cats left that last plant alone doesn’t mean they’ll be ignoring this one.
  3. Husbands miraculously keep a clean house when you are out of town. They don’t eat so healthy though.
  4. A good cup of tea solves many problems.
  5. Japanese make the best toilets. (Memo to self: have husband install one in the house.)
  6. Being recognized by your peers is the sweetest feeling in the world.  (Thank you, Ruth Ann and Wald Amberstone.  I cannot wait for next year’s Reader’s Studio.)
  7. Discovering not one, but four websites and a Facebook page, plagiarizing your work makes you sick to your stomach. Standing up to them and forcing them to take it down makes you strong.  Never be a doormat.  (Memo to everyone: make sure all your stuff is copyrighted and learn about laws around intellectual property.  It will empower you.)
  8. Momofuku makes the best ramen. Everything else is subpar.
  9. Sleeping in your own bed is always better.
  10. Allowing others to save face doesn’t mean you have to kowtow to them or be a phony.  (Memo to O-Ren Ishii: thanks.)
  11. Fortunes at temples are better than the ones you get in cookies (see picture above).
  12. Spandex pants with cat faces are great in theory but not worth $85.00 (see picture below).  (Memo to self: no matter how many people egg you on to buy them, you know you’ll be looking like a damn foo’ in those things.)

 catpants

And NO, I did not buy ’em.  I have my tomfoolery limits, people! (Plus the idea of a cat head stretched across my arse…not an appealing image.)  I did, however, buy a gold ring with the word “Pimp” emblazoned on it.  Hell yeah!

Other things:

Love this:  7 Tarot Readers Who Are Shaping Brooklyn’s Alternative Spiritual Community.  (Memo to self:  meeting Damon Stang is on my bucket list.  Memo to Damon: the Dalai Lama is not on my list.  I have my priorities.)

This guy wants to ban women from voting.  Unreal.  Try and stop me, buddy.

New York is making it rough for subway breakdancers.  Party poppers!

I love what Al Sharpton has to shy about “post-racial America”.  RIGHT ON.

Sick of gross creeps hitting on you on those online dating sites?  Check out this gal’s brilliant response.

Asking the internet to name your baby is probably not the smartest idea.

I love old photos.  These are uh-may-zing!  My favorite is the mother and child standing next to the Statue of Liberty as it was being unpacked!

I never knew that Paul Stanley was born without an ear and was severely bullied as a child.  You’ve done well for yourself, Mr. Stanley.  Screw those bullies.

Did Facebook’s graffiti artist commit a sexual assault on a woman?  You decide.  Sounds like it to me.

Channing Tatum once worked in a puppy hospital!  I like him even more!

I adore these housekeeping tips from Rosy Blu:  16 ways to improve your habitat in 5 minutes or less.  I need all the help I can get when it comes to housekeeping!  (Memo to self: it may be easier to just hire a damn housecleaner.)

If I do ever manage to hire a housekeeper, I swear I won’t be as crazy or filthy as these clients.

Love tarot?  Get this new book by Anthony Louis: Tarot Beyond the Basics: Gain a Deeper Understanding of the Meanings Behind the Cards.  It’s really useful and perfect for intermediate or seasoned readers.

You can get a numerology report on your home address.  Turns out my house is a 6 – which is great for kids, families, and visual artists!
