reading tarot for famous people

Ever read tarot for a famous person? I’m not talking about “celebrity predictions”. If you want to do those, that’s up to you.

I’m talking about a big time star coming to you for a tarot reading.

For some tarot readers, that day may come.  If it never does, that’s perfectly fine. Your work is not less valid without a “celebrity endorsement.”  (The grandma down the street that raves about your work may be a better and bigger referral engine than some Hollywood luminary.)

But if a famous person ever shows up at your tarot door, you may be nervous. In fact, you may be downright giddy or too intimidated to even read those cards like you normally do. You might even act like a fangirl or guy – gushing all over them like the worst sort of groupie. UGH. Reading tarot for famous people does not have to be like that.

Let’s bring that energy down to earth. Here are the things you need to keep in mind should some celebrity ever seek your services:

  1. They are a real person seeking real advice. Keep your fangirl act out of the equation and treat them like a normal human being.
  2. They deserve no special treatment. Treat them the same as you treat every other client that comes into your office. Your policies need to be the same across the board.
  3. A celebrity deserves STRICT confidentiality. (Which is something you should be practicing anyways with every client.)  You are not to divulge their reading, personal stories, or any details to anyone. PERIOD. This is a trust thing, yo. Own that and be a pro. I once knew a reader who loved to brag about the “celebrities” he read for.  He would share intimate details that he had no business blabbing about. (He was trying to impress other readers with this schtick, which is doubly unethical.)  This should never happen, ever. Every one of your clients needs to be confident that their information is sacred. Many famous people have to deal with people sharing their private lives, often for monetary gain. They should never have to fear that from a tarot reader.  Zip it and never, ever speak of it. Don’t even mention to anyone that they’ve come to see you.  Cloak and dagger, all the way.
  4. Do not ask them for an endorsement. If they offer that’s one thing, but don’t seek it. Many want their anonymity and they deserve that. Plus, it’s creepy to have a reader (or anyone) trying to use your fame for their gain. Be sensitive to this.
  5. Do NOT ask for a selfie or autograph. Have some class.
  6. When you are reading, get out of the mindset of “OMG I’m reading for XXXOOOO”. Center yourself and just read the damn cards.
  7. Stay grounded and keep an open mind. Avoid gossip rags or anything that might color your opinion. If you cannot be objective, refrain from the reading.

The big key to remember is this: people are people and everyone deserves an honest, ethical, and confidential service. When you provide that level of professionalism and trust, it doesn’t matter if you are reading for the local mailman or the president of the United States – you’ll be the star in that moment.
