Talkin’ Tarot With is a monthly feature designed to introduce my readers to different tarot readers from our wonderfully diverse community!  Each month, I’ll be asking various tarot readers three questions about their tarot philosophy and style, plus pointing you to their websites and blogs so that you can learn more about them!  I like to hand pick tarot readers that I feel are talented and interesting.

Talkin' Tarot with Bruja Lili Tarot

I connected with Bruja Lili Tarot on Instagram sometime this year. She’s a big-hearted Leo, and that part always shined through in every interaction we’ve ever had. A while back, I visited her YouTube channel and was blown away to see that she was posting tarot readings for each zodiac sign in both English and Spanish. That is ambitious – and impressive. It takes great effort, not to mention time, to produce all that content. I love that she’s offering this gift to both the English and Spanish-speaking community – and making tarot accessible to so many.

In addition to reading tarot (and making those awesome videos), Lili works in the health care industry, on the front lines of the pandemic. She’s also working on a new project called Looking Back on 2020 Through Tarot, where she examines her Moon Tarot Readings on specific key dates to see how things have unfolded. For example, she did a post on the Virgo Full Moon Reading, which was published right before the lockdown in the United States. This is a clever way to see how readings show up after the fact. Lili shares: “I decided to begin this project because I noticed this video had become one of my most-watched Moon Reading videos and it made me realize many of us were looking for answers or clues to the events that transpired.”

One thing that I like to say is that astrology and tarot are theory – you have to wait and see how things actually pan out. Sometimes, at the time of the reading, you assume it means one thing, but upon later reflection, you have a whole new understanding of the interpretation. I love that Lili is exploring this, and I look forward to seeing how this project takes shape.

If you’re looking for a kind, generous person to read your cards or are searching for a bilingual tarot reader, Bruja Lili Tarot is your gal.

Q: What is your philosophy about tarot reading?

I believe the tarot needs to be studied in a traditional way. It is important to understand the traditional meanings of the cards, this is best done by beginning to study the Rider Waite deck. Tarot is meant to help us understand feelings and ideas we might have not yet put meanings to. Therefore tarot should be used as a guide, to help us see things that might be clouded or unclear to us. The tarot reader’s role is not to judge or give advice, but instead to use their intuition and knowledge to provide the best message to the querent. Tarot has the power to heal, messages should be delivered with compassion and grace. And with enthusiasm and excitement when it’s called for.

Q: How do you feel a client might get the most out of a reading with you?

First I encourage you to watch my videos on YouTube for your sign (and subscribe while you are there, it’s free and helps my channel grow!). My videos will give you an idea of my style and it will give you an idea on what to expect. When booking a reading with me it is best to be as specific as possible if you want a specific question answered. Don’t be shy. Your personal reading is private and confidential. You should also provide any information that you think is relevant. Be open to the messages you receive.

¿Cómo pueden tus clientes tener la mejor lectura personal contigo?

Primero te aconsejo que veas mis videos en YouTube para tu signo (y suscribete es gratis y me ayuda a crecer mi canal!). Mis videos te darán una idea de mi estilo y que puedes esperar. Cuando pidas una lectura personal conmigo es mejor que seas específico si tienes una pregunta en particular. No seas tímido. Tu lectura personal es privada y confidencial. También te aconsejo que me des información que tu sientas es importante. Mantén una mente y corazón abierto a los mensajes que recibes.

Q: What is your best piece of advice for an aspiring tarot reader?

Start with the traditional Rider Waite deck to understand the basic meanings of the cards. Take tarot reading classes with people you admire and like. Once you have a grasp on the basic meanings of the cards, purchase decks that you are drawn to. Interview your new decks and ask your new deck what they would like to be used for, this will help you connect with your deck. This will also help you develop and listen to your intuition. You will find there are decks you connect with naturally. Practice reading for yourself and others. Find a journal you love and that inspires you, write your tarot discoveries in it.
