This week: Nine of Pentacles

Tarot by the Mouthful - Nine of Pentacles

Nine of Pentacles – The Nine of Pentacles symbolizes growth, wealth, and the harvest that comes after all the hard work. This is the time to kick back and enjoy the fruits of your labor.  Livin’ large. Treat yourself.  Enjoy some ease and delight.  After the toil, the rewards.

Kyle – My own terms

Luxury for me, has always meant “things on my own terms”. For that reason, The Nine of Pentacles has always been a card I have been drawn to. Not for the abundance it represented, but for the balance. Bounty, luxury, poise, peace, when all present come from a series of decisions, each one stacking on the the other until we move through life, or into a moment of importance just as we would like to.

It is self control and a certainty of your own power.

Last Saturday, August 6th, my fiancee became my wife. We married in a private ceremony under stars at and the branches of an apple tree at the edge of one of our favorite places in the state. There was no pomp, or production. A few people on a garden lawn, we gave vows to each other that only we could give and that only the other partner need hear.

We eschewed the large affair, and wed on our terms.

In doing so it was not irreverent to those that love us and would have liked to be there, or insouciant towards their affection for our union and witnessing it.

No, it was the Nine of Pentacle energy. An accomplishment of sorts, played forth with all the balance of our light and dark, poise and bounty of our commitment to each other. The luxury or having done the hard work to get to a place were we where deserving of the living entity that a marriage is.

I was delighted that this card, in Tarot By The Mouthful, lined up so well with our life event. Sink into your luxury and poise. Rushing towards it only leads to a sense of disequilibrium. Sense in your heart what “things on my own terms” means, and the Nine of Pentacles energy is yours.

Theresa – I’m so fancy

Every so often, I get my Nine of Pentacles on with some mighty fancy food.  Because that’s what this card is all about: luxe life.  I feel grateful every time I sit down to a meal and I have zero guilt about getting a bit of the exotic in my life.

In honor of that sweet Nine of Pentacles energy – here are some of the fancy things I ate while on my recent trip to Portland, Oregon:

Yes, sometimes a polish kielbasa and pierogis are as necessary as the fancy pants food above it!  In fact, I guarantee this meal, eaten in a park with friends was one of the most rewarding of all.

Bon Appetit!
