tarot doesn't know everything

The phone rang and a quivering voice was on the other line.  “My brother died” said the woman.

“I’m so sorry to hear that.” I replied.

“How come the tarot didn’t see that in our last reading?” was the next thing out of her mouth.

Pause.

Tarot doesn’t know everything.

It can’t and won’t see everything.  Every minute detail of your existence – or a loved ones life – isn’t etched out in seventy eight paper cards.

Because life isn’t like that.

It’s not some predetermined course that can be completely mapped out to every single second.  Things change.  You change.  People change. Shurla burla.  It’s like that.

It’s more akin to a flowing river with many bends and twists and turns.  A good tarot reading will help you to navigate the rapids and see some of the opportunities for swift movement ahead but it won’t be able to tell you about every single rock that may create a rough patch.

Tarot can help you to be more mindful. It can aid you in being more conscious of your choices and motives. It can see the possibilities and the pitfalls.  But to see everything? That requires super human ability and no one, not even those who claim to “know all and see all”, can.

Most people are realistic about the limitations of tarot and other divination tools.  But often the ones who get a “bad surprise” are upset that it was not “in the cards”.

The next time you get a tarot reading, keep in mind that tarot cards are tools and readers are human.  Even a skilled carpenter with the very best hammer won’t always hit the nail on the head.

Blessings!

PS your tarot reading is focused on YOU, so it’s pretty difficult to tap into every extended family member and see what’s ahead for them.
