Tarot Spread Test Drive - I test out different tarot spreads every month just for you!

Curious about all the different tarot spreads out there? Wondering if they’re a keeper – or a lemon? Me too. Let’s take them for a test drive and find out!

Each month, I’ll pick an interesting tarot spread (from a book or around the web) – and give it a spin. I’ll look under the hood, kick the tires – and show you exactly how it works…or doesn’t. No haggling necessary. Ready to roll? Let’s go!

This month’s tarot spread: Jessi Huntenburg’s Avoid Burnout Tarot Spread

Most people know me as a workaholic. I’m on my grind every day, without fail. But sometimes that can be a bit much. Last month, I was heading to the burnout point. Between travel and a fully booked out tarot schedule, it wasn’t hard to get there.

One day, I stumbled on Jessi Huntenburg’s post about avoiding burnout. The post included a tarot spread so I decided to test it out!

Here are the positions:

  1. What must be done in order for me to be healthy and thrive?
  2. Which pursuit or spiritual practice helps me to be the best version of myself?
  3. What prevents me from doing what I need to do in order to be happy, healthy, and balanced?
  4. What goal/pursuit can I release to help me feel more energetic and renewed?

Here are the cards I chose:

My interpretation:

What must be done in order for me to be healthy and thrive? Page of Pentacles – The Page of Pentacles is focused but that focus is directed on something of value. Which is a reminder that I should be putting my energy into the important work and not allowing myself to get bogged down in non-essential tasks. Too often my time gets consumed by things that are not moving me towards my goals – or that suck up time and have little reward for that time invested. This card is a reminder that I need to do an inventory of what’s a priority…and what’s not.

Which pursuit or spiritual practice helps me to be the best version of myself? Two of Swords – easy: meditation! When I regularly practice, I operate from a place of calm instead of chaos. Looks like I need to bump up my meditation practice a bit!

What prevents me from doing what I need to do in order to be happy, healthy, and balanced? The Hierophant – while the Hierophant is a teacher and mentor, I’m struck by the image here. It almost seems like he is giving the two acolytes some sort of order. Immediately, my tarot brain translated this as: delegation. I rarely delegate anything. Instead, I take it all on myself when there are good people around me who are willing to do the work for me. Perhaps I need to hire more help – something that is difficult for me to do.

What goal/pursuit can I release to help me feel more energetic and renewed? Queen of Pentacles – perhaps there may be certain financial goals I can ease up on. I have some mighty ones that I set when Saturn started moving through my 2nd house. I’m near the end of the goal but it hasn’t been easy! Relaxing a bit around this might take the self-induced pressure off. Whew!

My ratings:
