Which tarot cards indicate love at first sight?

two of cups

Two of Cups – this is the classic card of attraction.  The Two of Cups shows two people coming together and raising their glasses in a toast.  The figures are meeting eye to eye – and the male seems to reaching out towards the woman.  This highly romantic card is a favorable indicator for meeting a new partner.

But, in my opinion, love at first sight needs an extra “boom” – so I like to see this card paired with a Major Arcana, specifically one of these:

  • High Priestess – an intuitive connection
  • Wheel of Fortune – fate
  • Empress – intense sexual attraction
  • Judgment – higher calling
  • Magician – chemistry
  • Lovers – love, love, love

Example:

Two of Cups with the High Priestess – you meet someone and have that “instant knowing”

Two of Cups with the Wheel of Fortune – fate brings you together – a past life connection

Two of Cups with the Empress – major sexual attraction – schwing!

Two of Cups with Judgement – romantic wake up call

Two of Cups with Magician – intense chemistry – lust at first sight

Two of Cups with Lovers – need I say more?

Sometimes, two Court cards facing each other can also indicate an instant attraction.  Note: for this, I always look for male/female Court combos, even for gay couples.  Why?  Because I tend to interpret two Kings as a business meeting and two Queens as gossip (yeah, I know, it’s sexist but that interpretation has always worked for me).
