Do you walk through life without giving thought to your actions, your motives, your day? At the end of the day, do you reflect on what meaning your day held for you?
What intentions are you setting/claiming/sticking to?
Do you even bother to set one, ever?
I’m very intentional in everything that I do. From the way I structure and plan my business to the love I put into every dish I cook, I’m conscious of the vibe and results I want to create.
It’s because I believe that we can set the tone for every aspect of our lives.
We do not have to “accept our lot in life”. We can choose the kind of life we want every single day, no matter what circumstances we’ve been handed.
So I choose with great care.
And the older I get, the more mindful I am.
Why? It’s because the vast amount of time I once had available is becoming smaller and smaller. I have less of it so I must use what I have consciously.
I want to soak up every moment, treasure every person who impacts my life, savor every morsel, and fill my heart with memories of a life well lived (and well loved).
Intention is everything.
So what is your intention for today? Tomorrow? Your very next action? Your life?
Set it and live it.
Setting the tone in my office. Ha!
Other stuff:

Inspiring: Cindy Crawford leaks an untouched photo and I couldn’t admire her more.
Loving these photos of skateboarders in 1965 New York. I wonder if any of those were homemade boards?
I was saddened to hear that one of my heroes, Marshall Rosenberg, creator of Non-Violent Communication, has passed away. RIP.
Only seven countries in the world do not offer paid maternity leave. Guess which country is on that list? Yep. America.

Speaking of Jen Louden, her work has been very helpful in my mission to be intentional. Her latest book, A Year of Daily Joy: A Guided Journal to Creating Happiness Every Day, has been a new favorite guide for me. Each day, I read a passage and journal or simply sit with it. (PS combine this with her The Life Organizer: A Woman’s Guide to a Mindful Year
and you are designing your life on purpose. DELICIOUS!)
Chris Arnade’s writings about addiction and homelessness always make me weep. His latest post over at the Guardian had me in tears this morning: Bronx Beauty – struggling with addiction, my friend still made it home.
I really enjoyed watching the movie Her with Joaquin Phoenix last night. Check it out here: Her. While there are aspects of the movie that are cute, there is a deeper story about loneliness here that really spoke to me. Highly recommended.
I was SO excited to be a featured writer on Tea Silvestre’s amazing Butter and Beast project. By popular request: she’s taken all that goodness and turned it into a Kindle book! On the way to me tomorrow: Living Big: Embrace Your Passion and Leap into an Extraordinary Life by Pamela Grout. Inspiration for a bigger life! YES!
Also coming my way this week – I ordered all new mats for my yoga studio. Gotta spruce things up around here. My yogis deserve the best! Oh, and I got me this sweet mat loaded with positive affirmations: Gaiam Be Inspired Print Yoga Mat (4mm). How cute is that?
I love that the president has a sense of humor. This “Things everyone does but doesn’t talk about” video is priceless!

What I’m Grateful For:
My loyal friends
Family
Each day, each moment
Breathing
Ears that can still hear music
Eyes that can still see the look of love on my husband’s face
A mouth that can speak truth and say I love you
Hands that can hold
A heart that beats
