The Solar Eclipse in Cancer 2020 will be here on Sunday, June 21st at 2:41 AM EDT. This is the second in a series of three, sandwiched between a Lunar Eclipse on June 5th and a final one happening in the wee hours of July 5th. Of the three, the Solar Eclipse promises to be the most potent. Why? Three reasons:
- It’s conjunct the Lunar Nodes.
- It’s on the Solstice.
- It’s 0º, which is a critical degree.
Add up those factors, throw in Mercury and Venus retrograde and you’ve got a recipe for a significant shift. Eclipses always signal a change – this particular eclipse is a turning point and one that demands our attention. In the sign of Cancer, the focus is on home, family, and the United States, it also impacts the direction of our country.
The last time the eclipse was sitting so close to the Lunar Nodes was the eclipse that happened right before September 11th. That tragedy changed many things for Americans. Think about this: do you travel the same way you did before that incident? Nope. This next eclipse may not bring a situation like that but we may get an idea of how we want to be as a nation going forward. Pay attention to what’s happening this weekend and in the weeks that follow. We might see something taking shape that could redefine who we are collective.
Because Cancer is centered around the home, we might see a need to go back into the home. With the shelter-in-place being eased up in so many parts of the country, I wonder if this will bring a resurgence of the virus – and new rules on social distancing. We’ll have to wait and see how this unfolds.
On a more personal level, this eclipse is ideal for reflecting on what home and family mean to you. Who is part of your chosen family? Are you happy with your home or do you need to make a change? Would you like to expand your family? These are good things to ponder around this day. Changes to the household are possible. For example, a loved one might move back in or you may be ready to start your home improvement projects. It’s also possible that a family member may have news that is a bit shocking.
Because Cancer is security-focused, this eclipse might shed light on your vulnerabilities. Is the household financially stable? If not, is it time to seek help? Is your nest secured or do you need to install an alarm system? How do you feel about your home’s structure? For example, is the roof leaking? Look at all the ways you need to up your security. As you review your situation, start mapping out solutions.
Cancer is sensitive so emotions may be tender and raw around this Solar Eclipse. You’ll want to watch that situations don’t blow up. If you sense a relationship or conversation is about to go sideways, step back for a few days. It’s better to deal with things a few days later when the energy is less emotional.
Always remember that an eclipse is about evolution. The transformations are not always easy but they are necessary. This month’s Solar Eclipse in Cancer shows what’s taking shape while next month’s Lunar Eclipse illuminates how that will happen. Stay tuned….
