Talkin’ Tarot With is a monthly feature designed to introduce my readers to different tarot readers from our wonderfully diverse community!  Each month, I’ll be asking various tarot readers three questions about their tarot philosophy and style, plus pointing you to their websites and blogs so that you can learn more about them!  I like to hand pick tarot readers that I feel are talented and interesting.

Talkin' Tarot with Emilie Muniz creator of Simplicity Tarot

Emilie Muñiz is a triple tarot threat: a talented reader, amazing teacher, and artist. This young diviner has been getting plenty of attention in the tarot world for her skills and her upcoming deck: The Simplicity Tarot. This gorgeous set of cards is going to be self-published soon but it garnered so much praise that US Games decided to pick it up for a mass-published version soon. She’s going places – and fast.

I’m not surprised. I’ve been a fan of Emilie Muñiz for some time. We got to meet briefly in person at last year’s Readers Studio and I was instantly enchanted with this native New Yorker’s sweet personality and down-to-earth groove. Emilie is one of those people who makes you feel instantly at ease. It’s that quality that creates a trusted tarot reader. In addition to tarot, she’s adept at Lenormand, coffee cup divination, and reading dice. Her specialty is love readings – and she’s available for folks all over the world via the phone. If you’re lucky enough to live in the New York area, you might be able to catch her for an in-person session.

As her star continues to rise with the release of her deck, I would highly recommend that you grab a reading from her. It won’t be long before Emilie’s waiting list becomes a mile long.

Bio:

In her own words: “Hola, I am  Emilie.  I am an NYC native that started to dive into the world of tarot & spirituality over 20 years ago. Following my passion for divination and finishing my BA in business I decided to take on divination as a full-time career.  Now with over 11 years in divining full-time for a living, I have decided to help others with Tarot through its art and teaching. I am also a Tarot instructor and also the creator of Simplicity Tarot, which will be self-published in 2020 and mass-published by US Games in 2020/2021.”

Q: What is your philosophy about tarot reading?

Emilie: For me, Tarot reading is a snapshot picture just like a still image of all the energies that circle around us. This snapshot of energies picks up on our past, our present and can give us the most likely outcome of where we are headed. We can use this Tarot snapshot to help us understand why we are headed in certain directions in life. We can then use this information to change our course if we don’t like it. The Tarot though, in my opinion, is a tool for many other things rather than just making a prediction. It’s a self-help tool for guidance, a means to connect with the unseen world and a tool for manifestation.

Q: How do you feel a client might get the most out of a reading with you?

Emilie: Have you ever heard of a “psychic download?” A psychic download is one of the reasons why a reading with me can become in-depth. You see, I use my Tarot cards as the foundation for my reading then the channeling begins. My spirit guides and/or the guides of the person that I’m reading send me a wave of information which is known as a “psychic download”. A psychic download is simply information that a reader is getting psychically to relate to the person whom you are reading. Also known as channeling, the information flows in fast. Especially if the person that I am reading for is open to receiving information.

Because of this, I tend to start speaking a bit faster than average while I relate these messages. For this reason, I encourage all my clients to take notes or record the reading session. It also benefits the sitter (the one getting the reading) because they have their notes to revisit to reprocess the information. Readings can be a lump-full of information to process all at once. Taking notes is my personal lifesaver. I’m forgetful Nancy!

A time-saving tip is to come prepared with your questions. Every session is timed and I know time is valuable for the client too. It helps us jump right into the reading.

If I had to choose my #1 way of how to get a badass empowering reading with me is to do this: BE OPEN & HAVE YOUR WALLS DOWN. Meaning come with an open mind, an open heart, and come with your wall down. I am here to help you. I want the best for you, and I cannot do this if you are closed to my guidance. I am not saying to agree with everything that I am telling you during our session but at least be open to listening. For psychic Tarot readers, when individuals are closed to their reading it feels as if our energy is going against the tide.

Q: What is your best piece of advice for an aspiring Tarot reader?

Emilie: In my opinion, if you want to become an amazing reader make Tarot a best friend. Develop a relationship with the Tarot. The closer more intimate you become with the Tarot the more in-depth I personally feel your readings can be. Think of it like talking to a stranger versus talking to your best friend. Over time you sometimes just know what your best friend is going to say. With your best friend, you feel safe enough to ask her/him anything. With your best friend, you take their advice. With your best friend, you have trust. Just, like any relationship, trust, and closeness takes time so be patient but, be consistent with the Tarot.

Journaling is my bread and butter in learning Tarot. You know why? Because it was through my personal experiences, Tarot readings, and writing it down that I was able to learn the voice of the Tarot. I literally have Tarot personal journals that are 10 + years old. My advice is to Tarot journal the questions you have, interpret, then go back a week later and write the outcome. Believe me, your future self will be very grateful. As the years go by you will see how the cards talk to you, and the more accurate you become.

P.S: Don’t sweat it if you don’t Tarot read the same as everyone else. Tarot Reading is a creative art just like painting a masterpiece. There is no one right way to do such a thing. Your accuracy totally depends on your own personal ability to connect with the cards. Whichever way you decide to Tarot canvas paint is your own personal wonderful Tarot journey.
