Tarot and Astrology Mandalas: Part Two

A few weeks ago, I shared a post on how to create Tarot and Astrology Mandalas, a fab tool for visual and experiential learners. We looked at the natal chart and applied corresponding Tarot cards to four main points in the chart: Sun, Moon, Ascendant, and Midheaven. This tarot-astrology mashup creates an image that ties the two together and helps with interpretation.

For part two of this exercise, I like to look at the transits and apply cards to them. When I do this, I focus only on Jupiter and Saturn. However, you can choose to look at the other planets as well. Up to you.

Why only Jupiter and Saturn? Jupiter shows where I can expand while Saturn indicates where a foundation needs to be built. Together, these two provide a road map so my energy is focused on the bigger picture.

Here’s what you do:

First, print out a copy of your natal chart.

Next, you’ll want to grab your Major Arcanas. Each one corresponds to a planet or astrological sign.

The Emperor – Aries
The Hierophant – Taurus
The Lovers – Gemini
The Chariot – Cancer
Strength – Leo
The Hermit – Virgo
Justice – Libra
Death – Scorpio
Temperance – Sagittarius
The Devil – Capricorn
The Star – Aquarius
The Moon – Pisces

The Sun – Sun
The High Priestess – Moon
The Magician – Mercury
The Empress – Venus
The Tower – Mars
Wheel of Fortune – Jupiter
The World – Saturn
The Fool – Uranus
The Hanged Man – Neptune
Judgement – Pluto

Next, take the Wheel of Fortune and The World. Then check your ephemeris to see where Jupiter and Saturn are currently transiting and find the corresponding cards. As of this writing, Jupiter is in Aries and Saturn is in Aquarius. This means you’ll need The Emperor and The Star.

Look at your chart to see which houses the planets are transiting. Each house rules certain elements of your life.

1st – self-image
2nd – money, values
3rd – mind, communication, short trips, siblings, neighbors
4th – home, root, family
5th – leisure, children, creativity, romance
6th – work, health
7th – partnerships
8th – intimacy, joint resources, taxes, death
9th – long journeys, higher education, spirituality
10th – career, reputation
11th – social circle, goals, groups
12th – secrets, rest, hidden enemies, karma

Tarot and Astrology Mandalas: Part Two Jupiter and Saturn transit

Kendrick Lamar transits chart with tarot cards

Using our example above, you would place the Wheel of Fortune and The Emperor where Jupiter in Aries currently moves through your chart. For Kendrick Lamar, Jupiter is in his 6th house of work and health. This combo shows he has both luck and stability in both. Opportunities are present for him to grow his empire even bigger. He’s doing legacy work. (His new album dropped this year, which is certainly adding a massive bump to his career.)

Saturn in Aquarius lands in his 4th house of domestic affairs. The World and the Star show his home life feeling complete and healthy. He’s putting down solid roots. This is the right time for him to purchase real estate or focus on family matters.  (He recently welcomed a second child, so this makes sense.)

See how fun this is?

If you like, you might want to print out your chart and use tarot stickers to create an image you can post on your vision board as a reminder of where you’re growing and going. SWEET!

Try this with your chart and see what it reveals. Happy tarot-astrology mashing!

I teach this plus other methods in my newest book, Twist Your Fate: Manifest Success with Astrology and Tarot. (Psst…we use this mashup with Dolly Parton’s chart in the book!) It’s available wherever books are sold.
