The Hit List - Some helpful advice for hopeless times

So much is happening in the world right now. You might be angry. Or tired. Or a combination of exhausted, furious, terrified, sad, helpless, fired up, and hopeful. It’s possible to be all things at the same time.

How do you manage to keep going when you’d rather check out and ignore it all? Is it possible to find any silver linings in this terrible timeline? Here’s my advice. Take it for what it is.

Do not give up.
Fight back.
Help your neighbors.
Stand up for marginalized people.
Record everything.
Find joy amidst the chaos.
Keep going.
Protect vulnerable folks.
Study history.
Get loud.
Stay informed.
REST.
Do NOT give up.

The world has always been a shit show because humans are humans. What we are seeing right now is more of the same brutality but amplified. History teaches we CAN defeat the bad guys. But first, we must be willing to wake up, roll up the sleeves, and do the work. Ignoring it serves no one except the bad guys. End of story.

I’ll finish with two quotes from Anne Frank:

No one can keep out of the conflict, the entire world is at war, and even though the Allies are doing better, the end is nowhere in sight.”

I see the world gradually being turned into a wilderness, I hear the ever approaching thunder, which will destroy us too, I can feel the sufferings of millions and yet, if I look up into the heavens, I think that it will all come right, that this cruelty too will end, and that peace and tranquility will return again.”

That is the courage we all need right now. Let’s do this!
