The Hit List - Protect Your Energy

Energy is energy. Everything is made of energy – including humans. Sometimes, it’s not positive – although you cannot put a finger on why. You just know. For those of us in the mystical arts, we are acutely aware that vibes don’t lie. We also know that energetic shields are necessary if you want to protect your peace.

Look around my house, and you’ll see symbols of protection everywhere. Candles, statues, bones, crystals, evil eye pendants – it’s like a metaphysical Fort Knox. Despite that, every so often, someone creeps into my world with ill intent. The motive may not be nefarious. Sometimes, it’s an envious type or an unwitting energy vampire. Other times, it’s a shit disturber with a mission to bring me down a peg or two.

While I’m pretty good at spotting that vibe, there are times when I want to be less skeptical, more trusting. So I let my guard slip, and start to gaslight myself. That’s not a surprise. I grew up in the era when little girls were told to “be nice,” even when they were being mistreated. Grin and bear it. A part of me allows crap to seep into my orbit because I don’t want to be “judgy.” I want to be kind.

No matter how many books I’ve read or classes I’ve taken on boundaries, the lessons continue to show up. They may not be as ugly as past situations, but lessons nonetheless.

This summer, I decided to level up my protection work. I hired a trusted person to cut cords for me. Candles were lit, petitions written, and incantations uttered. The eclipses came and went. Information was revealed that validated my vibes.

But then, I noticed something…some people I thought were cool were no longer circling me. They were not necessarily “gone,” but not a regular presence. It’s like they were a vanishing act, gently fading into the woodwork. Gone, daddy, gone.

That’s the thing with magical practices (no matter what kind you practice): it works on levels you may not anticipate or understand. When you do protection work, your guides will sniff out the shit disturbers and the frenemies. Once they’ve been identified, out they go – and you don’t have to lift a finger or get into it. It’s simply revealed and released.

Never ignore energy – and always trust your guides.
