soulful proprietor-Retreatbigger

Over the last few years, a strange thing has happened when I’ve attended some retreats and conferences.  Silence.

(For the record, I’m not referring to silent retreats.)

When I’ve attended events aimed at female entrepreneurs, the silence followed when I mentioned my career.  (Tarot readers at a conference for entrepreneurs?  Is this bizarro world?)

I’ve also experienced that same hush when I wanted to talk about business stuff at tarot conferences.  (My peeps would rather be reading cards than profit and loss statements.  I like to read both.)

This created a strange conundrum for me: I felt like an outsider in both camps.  I was spiritual AND ambitious.  Apparently that was a problem for some.

Behind the scenes though, a funny thing has been brewing.  I’ve been meeting many other women just like myself: coaches who have a metaphysical element to their businesses, tarot readers who geek out on biz talk, healers who want to be recognized as professionals, creatives who get bored to tears with “standard business advice” that doesn’t apply to them, and other women who want to leave their soul sucking jobs to do work that sings to their hearts but are too afraid because they don’t have the first clue about how to make a mystical biz actually sustain them.

I’ve listened deeply to their dreams, their fears and their wishes.

I have a mission to support my soul sisters in business.  The women who want success without losing their spirit or selling out.  The ones who get sick of hearing about “big lists” and “numbers” and are more concerned with helping (I always say it’s never about SEO, it’s always about PEOple.).  Yes, those women.

This is why I have created the Soulful Proprietor Retreat.

I’ve carefully vetted and picked a dynamite (and trusted) crew that will help my soulful sisters elevate their businesses, step out of their fear, learn how to express themselves authentically and create solid incomes that will remain healthy no matter what is happening in the economy (my businesses thrived during the recession because I know how to stay in business through good and bad markets).

My allies in this mission are:

  • Root worker, tarot reader and my cohost of Talking Shop, Bri Saussy from Milagro Roots
  • Writer, teacher and author of 50 Ways To Say You’re Awesome, Alexandra Franzen
  • Mindfulness instructor, client relationship expert and chaplain, Kristie Zahn

I’ve had a few questions since the doors opened up and I thought I would  answer them here.

Why only 20?  How come you are not allowing a bigger group?

A:  When it comes to teaching, I prefer intimacy and small groups (I am very much a one-on-one person).  In a large group, some people get lost in the shuffle and their needs may not be met.  A smaller group allows for everyone to feel heard and supported.  It makes the learning experience more hands on and effective.

Why did you choose that location?

A:  Simple: it’s gorgeous.  Really.  And I’ve chosen the time of year (October) specifically because the location will be even more stunning (think spectacular orange and red leaves!).  The DeKoven Center is housed on an amazing property that you have to see to believe.  Gardens, big trees, lots of greenery and all within walking distance of beautiful Lake Michigan.  (PS they have wifi! This was the final selling point to me – I’ve been at retreats where there was no internet access and it drove me insane.)

Is everything really included?

A:  Yes indeedy!  Lodging, all the food, the swag, the shuttle back and forth to the airport – it’s all included.  All you do is show up at the airport (you do have to pay for your own flight – that is not included) and we take care of the rest.  You’ll be in caring, pampering hands all weekend.  No detail has been overlooked.

What if I am on a special diet?

A:  We are working with the cooks at the Dekoven Center to make sure that special needs are taken into consideration.  Just let us know!

Can I bring my husband?

A:  Unfortunately, no. This retreat is for women only.   (Sorry dudes.)

What are the rooms like?

A:  Think vintage and quaint.  Super cute and comfy.  Two to a room.  If you are coming with a buddy and want to be roomies, let us know and we’ll make it happen.

What will we learn?

A:  You will learn how to create a sustainable business (I’ve successfully run a tarot business for over twenty years and a yoga studio for ten.  I know what it means to be profitable and secure, even in down market times).  You’ll learn how to deal with clients effectively with healthy boundaries (so important because helping professions tend to over-give).  You’ll learn how to stand tall and present yourself authentically.  You’ll learn how to communicate and write about your work in a way that represents the true you (and makes people want to do business with you).  And you’ll learn how to turn those flashes of inspiration into real products.

By the time you come out of this retreat, you’ll feel empowered, you’ll know how to write effectively for your business, how to market smartly without resorting to sleazy tactics (ignore the gurus because a lot of their advice does not work for women like us), how to create great products and how to ride the wild waves of entrepreneurship.

Any hidden costs?

A: Nope.  All you have to do is pay for the retreat and your flight – and the rest is taken care of.  We’ll get you to and from the airport via shuttle service.  You’ll eat well.  There will be wine and cheese and Kringles and killer swag bags (oh my!).  You’ll have yoga and meditation in addition to all the business classes. And it’s ALL included.  This is like a biz retreat on steroids! And for the price you’re paying, it’s a steal.  Really.  Normally you’d have to pay for lodging and food in addition to the retreat fee at other conferences.  Not at the Soulful Proprietor Retreat.  We’ve made it simple and super affordable (because I know my mystics and creatives are often on budgets).

To sum it up: I’ve made this a no brainer.  No complicated travel arrangements (I’ve often shied away from retreats that required too much travel drama).  No extra fees.  Swag bags to die for.  Great (useful) classes with top notch instructors.  Good food.  Lots o’ fun.

And there are more surprises in store (I love to throw get togethers and am known for being a fab host).  I’m going all out because you know why?  I love being pampered and I want my sisters in business to get treated like queens for the entire weekend they spend with us.

So are you in?  Are you ready to up your game and have a supa fly weekend with like minded women (you won’t feel like a fish out water here!)?  Get in on all this goodness here:  The Soulful Proprietor Retreat.  (PS as of this writing we are 30% sold out so if you are hesitating, don’t wait too long or your spot may be gone, daddy, gone.)

Hope to see you in October!

Theresa
