Power + Tarot

This month, I have been putting the focus on “women and power”.  I’ve been doing lots of juicy interviews with women that I feel perfectly embody the characteristics of what it means to be a powerful, strong woman.

Of course, being around that sort of inspiration has put me into a contemplative mode.  What is power?  What does it mean to me?  And how can I show up more powerfully today? This month?  This year?

I decided to put a tarot spin on my questions and this is what I discovered:

What does it mean to be powerful?  7 of Wands – for me, this card represents taking a strong stand no matter what I odds I may be facing.  This is about courage through action.  I’m an introvert and sometimes that makes me want to hide away in my own little comfort zone.  The 7 of Wands indicates that I need to be out there, even if I feel uncomfortable at times.  This is about going after what I want and taking initiative.

How can I be more powerful today?  10 of Pentacles – today, putting the focus on creating a secure and structured environment will not only empower me to get things done but it will also help me to have a sound and solid community around me.  Today would be good for taking care of financial issues and family harmony.

How can I be more powerful this month?  Fool reversed – taking risks even if I don’t see a “safety net” below me.  I’ll admit this – I’m not a gambling woman.  Sometimes that will cause me to be less risky in some regards.  Taking chances and trying new things even if there is no guarantee might open up my courage muscles a little bit.  That doesn’t mean that I should be doing something stupid – but it doesn’t hurt to walk the untrodden path at times.

How can I be more powerful this year? 4 of Swords reversed – taking action rather than always being in “planning mode”.  I am a planner and often live in my head, creating all sort of ideas and not doing much with them except sticking them in a file.  By taking action on my goal list, I give life to my ideas and keep myself and my business moving forward.

Taking a stand, creating security, taking risks and taking action.  The key word seems to be taking – not easy for me as I tend to be a giver.  Taking and receiving seem challenging but if I only know how to give, I will become depleted.  Being drained and exhausted is not a powerful place to be.  Ultimately, taking a balanced and present approach to my life is the most powerful way for me to live.

So how can you be more powerful now?  This month?  This year?  I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comment section below.

Blessings!
