Talkin’ Tarot With is a monthly feature designed to introduce my readers to different tarot readers from our wonderfully diverse community!  Each month, I’ll be asking various tarot readers 3 questions about their tarot philosophy and style, plus pointing you to their websites and blogs so that you can learn more about them!  I like to hand pick tarot readers that I feel are talented and interesting.

Liz Christy

You don’t need to meet a person “in real life” to get a feel for them .  In fact, one of the loveliest things about the interwebs is the nice people you  often meet.  Sure, there are a few trolls and meanies out there but for the most part, the people I’ve come across have been awfully kind.

Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of connecting with many a fine tarot reader through Twitter and one of the sweetest ones I have met so far is Liz Christy.  Right from the first time we tweeted, I was struck by her warmth and friendliness.  Liz is not just a fellow tarot reader but she also shares a great love for felines.  I’ve got a soft spot for any four legged critter – and anyone who is a friend to animals worms their way into my heart pretty quickly.

Liz has been reading for over twelve years now and she offers a variety of affordable tarot readings via email.  She also reviews tarot and oracle decks from US Games Systems and Schiffer Books – if you are looking for detailed reviews, you’ll certainly want to check out her blog.

1.  What is your philosophy about tarot reading?

Liz: My philosophy about tarot reading has evolved over time, when I first began reading, the cards never ceased to amaze me when they “just knew” how to address any given situation. Over the years, though, Tarot has become my constant companion, best friend and trusted guide, especially this last October when my health began to fail. I never once asked “How will this turn out?”, I simply asked “What do I need to know today?” and without fail the Tarot supported me, encouraged me and put me in my place when my train of thought became a bit skewed. My greatest pleasure is seeing these same emotions come across other’s faces when they realize that the cards will give them the tools to be proactive in their lives, to make more informed decisions and perhaps other avenues of thought to persue that they may not have even considered.  Tarot is an amazing gift, and still puts a spark of wonder in my eyes when I least expect it!

2.  How do you feel a client might get the most out of a reading with you?

Liz: I love to have a client feel involved in the reading itself. I love for them to think and ask questions and begin to understand that they DO have power in their own lives. So many come to me feeling powerless and tossed around and the very best feeling in the world is to hear my clients have that “ah ha!” moment and to see them walk out with renewed sense of purpose and direction.

3.  What is your best piece of advice for an aspiring tarot reader?

Liz: My best advice is to practice, practice, practice! Write down your observations and insights so that you can refer back to them from time to time and begin to connect cards with a complete understanding of how they fit together. Read for family, friends and your spouse…start building your confidence and you can be a top reader in no time!
