Common (Sixth) Sense is a regular feature devoted to practical uses of intuition.  Making intuition simplistic for everyday mystics.

Did you ever meet someone and get an instant “bad vibe”?

You know what I’m talking about, Willis (or maybe not):

  • that icky feeling in the gut
  • skin crawling
  • hair on the back of the head standing up

Yeah, THAT.

That’s your sign that somethin’ is rotten in Denmark and you need to heed the smoke signals your guides are frantically sending your way – and run.  Like immediately.  (This also applies to the online world – if someone rubs you the wrong way or seems stalkerish, don’t ignore it.  Delete and block without hesitation.)

Every one of us has the ability to sense when a situation may be dangerous.  Even animals have this instinct – well, especially animals.  Ever see a dog growl at an oncoming fellow canine but then approach another one with tongues ‘n tails a waggin’?  They are feeling something is either dangerous or friendly – and unlike us, they tend to to obey that feeling.  We can learn from them.

Paying attention to creeped out feelings may save you from a bad situation – and it could even save your life.

I have heard people lament later when they’ve chosen to ignore those feelings. It is usually because they decided to look the other way and discount those negative vibes because they assume those feelings are “not logical” – or they don’t want to seem “judgmental”.

Here’s the deal: if you feel that something or someone is a potential threat to your safety, screw worrying about being seen as judgmental.  Your safety is always more important than what someone else thinks.

If later on you find out you were wrong, tis better to feel a bit sheepish than ignoring it and finding out that you were actually oh-so-regretfully right.

To learn more about recognizing danger, I highly suggest you read The Gift of Fear and Other Survival Signals that Protect Us From Violence by Gavin de Becker. This book may just change the way you feel about those “bad vibes”.
