Talkin’ Tarot With is a monthly feature designed to introduce my readers to different tarot readers from our wonderfully diverse community!  Each month, I’ll be asking various tarot readers 3 questions about their tarot philosophy and style, plus pointing you to their websites and blogs so that you can learn more about them!  I like to hand pick tarot readers that I feel are talented and interesting.

talkin' tarot with maggie lukowski
Maggie Lukowski of Maggie Moon Tarot and I have been hanging around online for a long time so you can imagine how delighted I was to finally meet her in person at last year’s Reader’s Studio.  Maggie is soft spoken and incredibly warm – a true lady.  Her kindness comes through loud and clear (both online and off).  I was happy that we got a little face time together.

Maggie has been involved with Tarot for about forty years.  Her first encounter was during a stint as a dog walker when she was a teen.  The Grandmother of the family she worked for read cards for Maggie and this started her interest in all things metaphysical.  Since that time, she’s not only become a Tarot expert but also a Numerologist and a Reiki healer.  She’s also a Certified Angel Card Reader ™ and a Certified Six Sensory Practitioner ™ and has studied with intuitive masters such as medium James Van Praagh.

She’s been a cohost and writer for the popular Attune Magazine, where she shares her Numerology forecasts and more.  Want to see her in action?  You can catch Maggie on her YouTube channel, where she posts Tarot and Astrology videos weekly.  (This will give you a taste on what a lovely and talented reader she is!)

There are new projects on her horizon: Mini-Meds, little meditations to raise your vibration and Spiritual Birthday Forecasts which are 12-month Tarot + Numerology Visions for the year!

Maggie’s mission is a big one:  she’s here to help bring people’s energy back into alignment and to clear blocks so that people can tap into the Universe’s flow of love and healing light. Through her Tarot, Numerology, Reiki and abundant compassion, she’s doing just that. If you are looking for a deeply healing Tarot reading – and more – head on over to Maggie’s world, settle in, and make yourself right at home.

One of her favorite quotes comes from musician Ani DiFranco: “I do it for the joy it brings, cause I’m a joyful girl. Cause the world owes us nothing, we owe each other the world.”   That sums up Maggie Lukowski to a T.

Q: What is your philosophy about tarot reading?

Maggie: For me, Tarot is the soul’s language and one of the tools that can help us navigate through events in our lives, whether they are large or small. I use it as a daily meditation to help me start my day with clarity and a “weather forecast” as to what I might wear or take with me on my day’s journey. Tarot can help answer our questions, and gives us insights into areas of our lives that can be cloudy or uncertain. Also a nod to areas that we already know need changing or a little tweaking. It may help map out some new adventures we might wish to explore. I have always found Tarot to be a rich and empowering tool. The art, archetypes, and people you meet in the deck can sometimes be chatty, whisper into our ear, make us laugh, or hold up big signs saying “Pay attention to me!” But in the end, it’s always about our free will and empowerment.

Q: How do you feel a client might get the most out of a reading with you?

Maggie: I ask the client to take a look at my website to get to know me and to come with an open mind, and clear questions for the best results. I also have my Youtube videos up on my web site so they can get a feel for my energy. A reading is sacred work, soul work.  I come to readings with respect, confidentiality, non-judgement,  and I create a safe place to work with a collaborative approach whether it is in person, on the phone, Skype or email. I work to establish a heart to heart connection with my clients, and then call upon my guides and angels along with those in the unseen realms for the client, if they choose, to be present during the reading. Psychically I can often pick up on areas that can be helpful to mention to my client. We are engaged together, uncovering the unseen and finding new perspectives and paths in areas of transitions, career, relationships, and personal empowerment. I ask for the day, month and year of birth and the name they go by or introduce themselves as, since I often incorporate Numerology into a reading. If it is an energy session, I request a photograph. For Numerology charts, I have a list of information on my website that they will need to provide me with in order to create their Numerology map, compatibility, business or name change.

Q: What is your best piece of advice for an aspiring tarot reader?

Maggie: I love to be around new readers as they bring a freshness and excitement to Tarot and inspire me to look at things from a different perspective. We are all always learning from each other! I would suggest starting the day with a short meditation or meditative practice, and make your intentions for the day. Be true to who you are and define your own style of reading; don’t compare yourself to others. There are many styles and approaches, and you will find the one that works best for you. Have confidence, and clarity on what you can do for your clients and what is not in your area of expertise or scope and don’t be afraid to communicate that to your clients as they will appreciate it. Engage with other readers in the community online and in person to establish a connection, make friends, and support each other.

There are many opportunities: classes, conferences, videos, radio, parties, fairs, Tarot meetups, and much more! I have read for many years, and attended my first big conference this year at the 2015 Readers Studio where I met Theresa and other readers I have made via the internet and some new friends too! If this is your business, strive to constantly educate yourself and understand what you need to know and do, on the business side of things. Be curious – it’s fun to try new things and step out of that comfort zone to see how they feel; what might be a good fit and what is not. Keep an open mind to new ideas; just because we have not experienced it, does not negate it’s validity. And in the end, it’s about our integrity, loving what we do, trusting our intuition, having confidence and coming from a place of love so our clients feel empowered and have choices.
