The Hit List - Helpers need help too

I had a rough week.

Like, super-sucky.

It started out well enough: the husband was gone for the week, which meant I would be able to declutter and do my work in peace. I did manage to get a bunch of junk out of the house and some writing done.

But then everything seemed to head into an icky downward spiral.

I was let down by someone I trusted.

This was followed by losing my mail – which meant that somewhere out there, I have two bills floating around, waiting to be paid. I’m hoping a good Samaritan found the envelopes and put them in the mailbox.

I misspoke and said something embarrassing and way out of line.

I had a night of terrible insomnia.

My allergies were so bad that my industrial strength eyeliner couldn’t hold up.

All first world problems I’m sure but I felt like garbage nonetheless.

I’m one of those people who rarely asks for help. I prefer to handle shizz myself – or to fix other people’s problems. It’s one of the reasons why I work in a helping profession (yes, tarot is that).

This week…I needed to call upon my most trusted peeps for support. A few quick texts and phone calls – and I was back on track. (As of this writing, the mail has still not turned up.)

Situations like these, although perhaps not dire, are a good time to remind yourself that you’re not alone. We need each other. No wo/man is an island. Even helpers need help.

This week, if you feel like life is handing you a crap sandwich, don’t be afraid to ask for support. Let other people help you. Because when the going gets tough, it’s best not to go it alone.

My husband took this pic! What a beauty!
