The Hit List - How I keep going

This past week has been rough. Like Ten of Wands hard. I’ve been sick as a dog, but that’s not what’s on my mind. The state of the world is not in a happy place. Frankly, has it ever been? It seems there is always something terrible going on. Because…humans.

Some folks have reached out to me, terrified, ready to lie down and give up. While I’m all for rest, and agree we need to take healthy breaks from the hellscape news, it’s also vital to not lose sight of what is possible when we continue to show up and do the work. Giving up is not an option. At least it is not or has never been for me.

How do I keep going?

I remember there are folks who need me. Not just loved ones, but people in my community and beyond. That’s simple, but it works. It’s not a guilt trip, by the way. It’s truth.

So, I will rest this weekend, shed a few tears (for the millionth time), but then get back in the game. I will vote. I will donate. I will stand up for injustice when I see it. I will speak out. I will give to my community. I will call my representatives every day. I will get behind those who are doing the hard, brave work. I will, I will, I will – it’s willPOWER.

Because giving up is impossible when you’re needed.

That’s how I keep going.
