The Hit List - Resolutions in a Wheel Year

It’s that time of year again. Yep, New Year’s resolutions. So many of us vow to make a change when the ball drops. Sometimes, it works. Other times, not so much. I’ve had many successful and failed resolutions over the years. The risk-loving side of me likes to toss the dice, test my resolve, and see how far I can go. While it doesn’t always work out the way I want, it’s still a motivational kick in the arse. Not that I need it – determination is my middle name.

Of course, in online circles, there’s plenty of resolution-hating folks out there. I always seem to stumble on someone grousing about how they don’t work, we need to forgo them, or do something else instead. While I understand the sentiment, there is a part of me that wonders why the cynics feel the need to bash this practice. I mean, sure, perhaps we should be less rigid and more forgiving with ourselves.

But isn’t there something fantastic about a new year with a fresh list of goals and wishes? I don’t know about you, but this sets me up for an intentional year.

When you are clear about what you want to accomplish, have, or be, you set a wheel in motion. Being as this is the year of the Wheel of Fortune, I feel superstitious about resolutions – in a good way.

I’ve created my list and tucked it away for my eyes only (no, you don’t get to see what I’m working on). The vision board is done, too. I’m taking chances, crossing fingers, and hoping for the best outcome. Because I’d rather try and fail, every time. That’s the fun of it – life is a gamble, why not take a turn at the wheel and see if your spin takes you where you want to go?
