The Hit List - Uh oh six-oh

Next week, I turn the big six-oh. Yep, 60. I’m entering a new decade. Am I wiser? Perhaps. But I’m moving into this phase less concerned about that part and more attuned to a gentle entry.

Hustle culture? Done.
Frenemies? No thanks.
Staying up late? Absolutely not.
Attending events that drain my energy? Gosh, no.
Buying crap I don’t need? Stopped that a long time ago.
Putting up with crappy behavior from family? Over it.
Acceptance? Nope. Self-acceptance instead.
Mean girls and clout chasers? Whatever. Eye roll.

What I want:

Ease.
Joy.
Peace.
Slow mornings and quiet evenings.
Less access, bigger boundaries.
Work that lifts my spirits and contributes to the world in a positive way.
More writing.
A smaller, curated group of trusted friends.
Books.
Stationery.
Music all the time.
Better habits.
Less concern with other people’s opinions.
More attention to my needs.
Self-care 24/7.

I’m consciously choosing a quiet life. Exclusive reclusive. The big six-oh doesn’t need to be a dreaded event. Instead, it can be a mindful moment. Because that’s the thing: by this time, you know what you want, what doesn’t work, who doesn’t have your best interests at heart, and more importantly, who you really are.
