I always laugh when I hear this statement: “I built this business by myself, with no help.”

It often comes from corporate guys who run million dollar businesses. While they may have had humble beginnings, no one really builds a business with “no help.”

What about the employees that show up every day?  Or the postman that makes sure packages arrive on time?  Or the companies that create and supply the products needed to run a business (ex: sticky  notes, computers, etc.)?

Let’s not forget the most important part: the clients.

Even if you are a one-person show, I can guarantee that if you look around, you’ll notice that there are many people who keep your business in business.

It’s important to acknowledge and give thanks to the people who show up and help you to continue to serve day in and day out.

Expressing gratitude puts a good vibe out into the universe and spreads abundance outward and back to you. Plus, reflecting on your blessings brings awareness of how much help you’ve really been given.

You may already have a gratitude practice in place.  But do you have a gratitude practice for your business?

It’s simple to do:

  • Get a journal that is only for recording your blessings.
  • Every day, reflect on the little and big things that helped your business thrive. What worked well?  What inspired you?  Where did you get help?  Who has made your business better/happier/stronger, etc.?  Use those questions as prompts.
  • Write down at least three things in your gratitude journal.

I prefer to do this at night but you may prefer to do this in the morning.  In time, you’ll be surprised to see how many things and people really do help your business stay afloat. It’s a lot!

Bonus: send a thank you to someone who made an impact on your business.  This could be a colleague, a client, or a service provider. Extra points for hand-written notes.

In the spirit of gratitude, here are a few of the people who have helped make 2014 a stellar year at The Tarot Lady hub:

Alexandra Franzen – you keep me on my toes and always thinking ahead.  Thanks for your words and friendship.

Nathan Briggs – for keeping my site up and running.  You’re my lifesaver!

Alison Monday – for tech and design genius. PS you’re a fab dinner partner too!

Sara Sommerfeld – for logos and art.  You’re amazing.

Bri Saussy – thank you for being the best damn podcast pardner and BFF ever!  Muah!

Joanna Powell Colbert – your wisdom and friendship help me to keep on going no matter what.

Sam Micale – my dear accountant, what would I do without you? Thanks for keeping my business safe for almost two decades!

Jessica Kaminski – for putting up with my neurosis and making me look good in photos (you have the hardest job of all). You rock!

Liv Mueller – my glam squad!  Holla!

Hilary Parry, Paige Zaferiou, Amelia Quint – thanks for carrying that heavy torch. You’re bright stars, every one of you.

Yvonne Walton – best assistant EVER.  Honored to know you, my friend.

Kristie Zahn – your friendship and help with the retreat made it possible. Thank you!

Starbucks – for keeping me fueled. (Shout out to my baristas!  See you later…)

Fabeku, Chris Zydel, Jill Campana, Victoria ProzanBeth Owl’s Daughter, Donnaleigh, Georgianna, Suzi, and Debra Smouse – for the support and friendship.  Merci!  I adore you all.

Megan Lang – for the careful editing.  Sorry for my poor grammar and punctuation!  I’m learning!

Kyle Cherek – for what’s to come.  (Think of this as advance praise.)

My clients and students – thank you, thank you, thank you.  Without you, nothing happens here.

Always remember: a grateful pocket attracts more riches.

Every day, give some gratitude for all the people that help you sustain your business.  Because without them, you wouldn’t have a business no matter what you’d like to believe.

Blessings,

Theresa
