If you are an entrepreneur, chances are you’re a one wo/man show.  In fact, you probably do most things yourself.

Maybe you don’t mind.

Perhaps you got all that jazz down.

And most likely, you dig doing your own grind.

While that’s all well and good, do you have enough support?

I’m not talking about a tech whiz at your beck and call nor a virtual assistant.

I’m talking about emotional support from fellow entrepreneurs.

It doesn’t have to be a full fledged mastermind (although if you have one of those, lucky you).  But you do need to have some biz friends that you can lean on from time to time.

There is something really awesome about hanging out with like minded professionals that are passionate about their businesses.  Although conversation will often veer to personal shizz, most of the time it’s all about bouncing ideas, brainstorming, and sharing war stories.

It’s that sounding board that you can’t get from your family (who many times don’t give a fig about your latest idea or biz conundrum).  Without that crucial support, the journey can feel isolated.  There’s also a hidden benefit: entrepreneurs who have support tend to be more successful.  Why?

Four reasons:

Feedback: when you have trusted eyes on your business, you’re going to get valuable observations that you can respect.  Without that, you’re often in the dark, wondering if your ideas are lead balloons.

Experience: spending time with people who’ve been there, done that may help you avoid business booby traps.

Creative thinking: jamming with other innovative minds lends to fertile ideas.

Accountability: it’s much easier to slack off or give up if you have no one to answer to. Stating plans out loud to your business buddies is more likely to make you want to stay focused and responsible.

I love regular pow wows with partners in awesome such as Victoria Prozan, Berni Xiong, and Alison Monday.  We have started meeting for dinners every quarter and it’s one of the highlights of my work world.

I treasure this time to share, laugh, and support each other.  These special nights out have made my business world a lot less lonely.  Plus, I feel like I’m able to get important feedback and friendship, which feeds my soul as much as it does my biz.

You don’t have to be a business recluse – even if you work at home.

Seek out fellow entrepreneurs, both online and off.  With your business posse at your side, you’re going to see some mighty fabulous results – and you’re going to have a lot more fun.

“If you want to go quickly, go alone . If you want to go far, go together.”

Blessings!
