The Hit List - Guarantees - The Tarot Lady

When the world seems to be falling apart like a wet dishrag, people often turn to tarot readers, astrologers, and psychics for guidance. The most asked question: “will we be okay?”

My answer isn’t a cozy or comforting one. “Some people will be okay. Others won’t.”
That is the inconvenient truth.

Frankly, what many people really want to know is if the state of the world will impact THEM. A confident “yes” as a reader turns over the Tower might bring relief, but is it really helpful? Perhaps it makes you feel better in the moment. Now you can go on about your business and forget about what’s going on. You can look away because hey, “we” are going to be okay!

No set of tea leaves, tarot cards, or astrological configuration can provide a complete guarantee. The world is complex with many moving parts, humans, and agendas. While we are all connected, there are plenty of folks who remain blissfully unaware of how others live, the struggles they face, and the true horrors of war.

For example, after 9/11, clients called me to ask whether they might face the same attack. Mind you, these were people who didn’t live anywhere near New York. When I told them they had nothing to worry about, they hung up, relieved. They were free to go back to their lives because they got their “guarantee.”

As we stand on the precipice of WWIII, I’ve had typical conversations with a few who need to know that “we” will be okay. “Maybe. Maybe not. It depends on where you are and the luck of the draw.”

Perhaps a better question might be “what can I do to stop this madness?” For that question, I have answers.

Vote. March. Donate. Call your representatives. Join peace movements. Get loud. Look for information outside mainstream media. Refuse to enlist. Insist these warmongers be held accountable. Educate yourself on the issues (avoid mainstream media). Spread accurate information and combat propaganda. Sign petitions. Give to mutual aid. Put your support behind anti-war candidates. Run for office. Don’t turn away or numb out. Attend town halls and give ‘em hell. Demand that the leaders who support this shit participate in the boots on the ground – and enlist their children. Look out for each other. Be kind.

The only way “we” will ever be truly okay is if every one of us comes together. That’s the only guarantee I can give.
