The Hit List - Mind Full

Right now.

Full Mind.

Mind Full.

My arthritis is at bay so I can write without pain.

I am writing this blog post.

The phone says it’s 35º outside.

Text messages are streaming in. I’m trying not to get distracted.

Because I want to be fully present when I write.

But sometimes texts and emails and cats need to be answered.

I’m sitting up straight and my breathing is great. The steam is wafting out of my tea.

I pop a piece of chocolate in my mouth. Ghiradelli Toffee Interlude.

Stop, adjust my sitting. Posture is perfect.

Breath deep and relaxed. Eyes focused on the screen.

My eye itches. Allergies? Or just an itch?

Back to writing.

Cat returns and looks at my lap. It’s hard to type with a cat in the lap but it’s going to have to happen.

Reminders pop up on my screen. Things I need to do. Better make a note. Back to writing.

Let me get this done.

It’s not going to take that long.

But it will take longer if I keep getting distracted.

Present moment stuff is hard when you’re mind full instead of mindful. The brain works and then gets sidelined by thoughts, disruptions, other people, shiny objects. I try my best to be fully present in everything that I do but I don’t always succeed.

But I try.

Lord knows I try.

Okay – back to the task at hand.
