The Hit List - Where’s my brain?
I goofed up more than once the past few weeks. Even though I’m almost rigid in my organization and time management, a couple of appointments got lost in the shuffle. Whoops.

Maybe it’s the impending Mercury retrograde. That’s always a perfect cosmic blame game. I could also point to Mars retrograde and say “that’s it!” (Astro-excuses are sure convenient.)

But even if that had an impact, there is another real reason why this happened. My brain is overstuffed. I have too many engagements, too many things on the agenda, and way too many projects.

This happens from time to time, not just for my brain but my house. I declutter, pare down, and burn, baby, burn until everything is clean, clear, and free. What do I do then? I fill it up with more stuff. I’m not sure why I do this…but dammit, I need to stop. I hear ya, brain!

As 2020 winds down, I have already been creating space in my business and life. My calendar is much lighter next year (I’m calling it the Year Of No). There are many empty days for me to rest and find my bearings. The muses will be able to sing because they won’t be burnt out.

The trick will be keeping it like that. So what about you? Are you doing too much? Have you had too many balls in the air this year?

Let’s make a pact today. No more overstuffed lives, calendars, and brains. Today is the first day of the rest of our lives – and less is truly more.
