When people ask me who my “business role models” are, I rarely mention my peers in the metaphysical industry. I list rap moguls + hip hop icons like Jay-Z, Russell Simmons and Wiz Khalifa.
Why? Because these boys are BO$$ED UP + focused on profit.
They’ve got confidence, integrity and passion.
Most of all? They WORK HARD. They’re devoted, disciplined + committed to making and selling their art. No excuses. No whining about “the economy.” No distractions. No bullshit.
That’s hot.
And honestly? It’s a style of working that I see want to see more often in the spiritual, mystical and soul-based business community.
Before you start hurling angry tomatoes + flaming tarot decks at your computer screen, hear me out:
Do a reality check and ask yourself:
: If Jay-Z walked into my office + took a peek at how I do business, would he be impressed?
: If Beyonce invited me onto her yacht, would I be proud to tell her about my daily routine — how I rock out my workday with focus, discipline + devotion?
: If Russell Simmons was my business coach, would he be proud of my evolution + growth over the past year — or smacking his head in frustration?
(Note: Your idols might be different than mine: Madonna, Richard Branson, Martha Stewart, Oprah, Carolyn Myss, Kris Carr, etc. In that case, replace those rapper names with their names in the questions above.)
Your answers might feel uncomfortable. Mine often do! (And yes, I check in on my biz all the time and ask these questions. Seriously. I never want to be “too comfortable” aka in a rut.)
That’s good. It means you’re being honest. And it means you recognize a need for more discipline + commitment.
It means you’re ready to BO$$ UP — big time.
