leap year

This is my official leap year.  I’m declaring it.  I’m not sitting still.  I want to soar.

Last week, I had to flex my courage muscles as I hit the stage for the annual Reader’s Studio.  Putting my introvert self up in front of two hundred tarot peers was a stretch for me.

I was nervous but that anxiety needed to be pushed to the side.

It was time to leap.  And leap I did.

Despite tech hurdles and having to wear a different outfit than the one I wanted (I bought a beautiful Michael Kors shirt but as soon as I put it on, I realized that the material was a heat conductor), I made magic happen on that stage.

I rose to the occasion and I shined like a supernova.

I did it despite my fear.

Taking a leap of faith is not easy but it’s essential in order to grow.  Because if you stay where you’re comfortable, you simply remain…comfortable.

I’ve taken many leaps in my life: quitting my job without a safety net, starting two businesses, getting divorced, getting remarried, having children, moving to a new location without knowing a soul, traveling solo, etc. etc.  I’ve ran and jumped and fled without safety nets many, many times. I took risks even thought I was scared out of my safety-seeking-comfort-loving mind.

And each time, I grew.

I am not sure if I will ever be fearless but I do know this for sure: the more I stare my fear deep in the eyes, the less control it has over me.

Now that the Reader’s Studio is behind me, I can chalk up public speaking as one more jitter-making thing that I have overcome.

And I’m getting ready for the next event.

Those details drop next week.  And trust me – I’m about to jump up to a whole new epic level.

No climbing gear or safetey nets are necessary.

How will you be fearless this week?
