Susan B. Anthony

Did you know that March 8th is International Women’s Day?  Yup, a day for women.  But hey, this isn’t a new thang – International Women’s Day has been around since the turn of the century.  Here’s what they say over at the official site:

International Women’s Day has been observed since in the early 1900’s, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.

I’ve been a feminist before I even knew what the word meant.  I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s right smack dab in the middle of the women’s movement.  It’s true that we’ve come a long way, baby  but we still have a long way to go.  I also happened to grow up with an older (and sexist) father who told me that my best path to success would be to become a secretary (sorry Dad, but I was CEO material right from the get go).  I felt compassion for Dad – both his daughters were strong willed, free spirited, and EXTREMELY independent – that could not have been an easy route for a man born in 1915, a time before women even had the right to vote.  My sis and I didn’t fit the mold he wanted and he had to learn how to accept us, as is.  Dad was mystified when I started my own business (he assumed I would fail because I was a woman and I was in a “weird” business) but years later he ended up being quite proud of my accomplishments (he came around as he got older).

In honor of women everywhere, this March, I’m making the theme for my blog all about women and power!  This is going to be a content heavy month with tons of interviews.  Check out my plans for March:

If you are ready for some powerful tarot and some rocking great life lessons from some admirable women, March is going to kick it up a tarot notch!

Blessings!
